Description:

Marlborough to the landgrave of Hesse: he has received the landgrave's letter and his conditions. He will forward these to the queen, but thinks she will be surprised, as when he left England it was thought that the troops were on their way. He hopes she will not take it ill that she was not told earlier. The enemy will use the slightest stumble to his advantage. He assures him that he will do all he can in the matters of the crown prince and the equal treatment of his officers. The allies will advance his interests in any peace negotiations. The arrears depend upon a grant from parliament, and the soldiers themselves have been and will be paid. Dated at Brussels. ff. 44, 45
