Description: |
Charles, landgrave of Hesse to Marlborough: he has received Marlborough's letter by hand of Count de Rechteren, who informed him of the agreement between the queen, the states general, the elector of Hanover and Prince Eugene for an operation on the Moselle, in which the landgrave's troops would be under the command of Prince Eugene. He regrets that he was not fully consulted, or he would have put his troops in better order. He complains that the conditions of his alliance with England and the Netherlands have not been met, and that he is owed arrears for the years 1706 and 1707. He will only send his troops to the rendezvous under the conditions he has stated to Prince Eugene, which he attaches [SP 87/3/20]. He wishes a positive response within six weeks, or he will recall his troops. Dated at Cassel. ff. 40, 41 |
