Description:

Extract from the register of resolutions of the states general of the united provinces: the deputies for foreign affairs, having conferred with M. Stöcke, envoy extraordinary of the king of Denmark...regarding the differences over the bishopric of Lübeck... have ordered M. Goes, their envoy extraordinary to the Danish court, to refer his majesty to the proposal contained in the states' resolution of 30 January 1706... which has the support of the queen of Great Britain. They urge him to accept it. The states, together with the other guarantors of the treaty of Travendal, have had to enforce their guarantee on several occasions. They have so far prevented the other [guarantors from declaring that the situation infringes the treaty], but cannot do so for much longer. If he persists in dissenting from the proposition he will be in the wrong in the eyes of the world, and his friends will be unable to help him. ff. 371, 372
