Registered files of the Inspectorate Support Services branch of the Department of Education and Science used by HM inspectors stationed in the Headquarters buildings and containing papers that were of general interest to the Inspectorate in the conduct of their work. The papers relate either to organisational matters or deal with specific subject areas or types of pupils. The series contains many papers that predate the establishment of the branch's registry in 1975; they were collected from a number of different sources, including regional offices, and registered in this series. The INS series was introduced in 1975 and there was a conscious effort to collect papers of interest from a number of sources at that time. These were registered into the series and selected files can be found in this series. |
