Title: Exchequer of Pleas: Warrants of Attorney to Confess Judgement and Cognovits
Description:

Warrants given to attorneys by defendants empowering them to concede cases to plaintiffs or allow judgement by default, and cognovits by which defendants formally confessed actions and agreed that judgement could be signed against them. Most cases were of debt.

Many warrants include a signed memorandum laying down the financial terms for a settlement and the provisions in case of default.
