'A Map of the British and French Dominions in North America with the Roads, Distances, Limits and Extent of the Settlements, Humbly Inscribed to the Right Honourable The Earl of Halifax And the other Right Honourable The Lords Commissioners for Trade & Plantations. By their Lordships Most Obliged and very humble servant Jno Mitchell. Tho. Kitchin Sculp. Clerkenwell Green. Publish'd by the Author Feb ry 13th. 1755 according to Act of Parliament and Sold by And. Millar opposite Katharine Street in the Strand.' Title set in a decorative rococo scene with a male and female Indian, each wearing feathered crowns, Indian children, a beaver, a palm tree and Indian corn, in the distance the shore, with ship unlading, a house, barrels, and figures, surmounted by two winged infants holding the Royal Arms with the Union flag above. Table of symbols used on the map. Scale: 1 inch to about 32 miles. Compass star. Inset 'A New Map of Hudson's Bay and Labrador from the late Surveys of the Coast.' Scale: inch to about 160 miles. A note that the map was made at the request of the Lords Commissioners is printed on it, and signed by John Pownall, Secretary of the Board.
