Depositions in cases on the equity side of Chancery taken by commissioners in the locality where the dispute had arisen.

The series also includes interrogatories, copies of commissions, abstracts of plaintiffs' bills of complaint, and surveys in cases involving the partition of property.

Depositions usually give the deponent's name, address, age and occupation.

A two volume manuscript index is available, arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the principle plaintiff. The Bernau Index, a genealogical source formerly held by the Society of Genealogists and now available there on microfilm, contains several million personal name entries, including those found in the records of this series, together with their place of residence.
