Catalogue description Assizes: Northern Circuit: Miscellaneous Books II

The Northern Circuit documents in this series relate to civil cases heard at nisi prius at the assizes for the county of Lancaster and comprise judgment books, 1810 to 1876 and a postea book, 1858 to 1866. The cases were passed to the assizes from the central courts of common law and, after 1875, from the High Court of Justice through the Preston District Registry.
