Navy Board and Admiralty: Yard Pay Books
Pay books of persons employed at the various dockyards, rope yards, etc., in the United Kingdom and abroad. These volumes give a comprehensive list of staff and wages for the years 1660 to 1857, as well as a list of the vast number of smaller yards required to support the Fleet world-wide during the period when British maritime power was probably at its height.
Depending on the size of the yard, the lists are further sub-divided into Ordinary, Extraordinary, Rope Lofts, Miscellaneous Pay Lists and Pensions.
Navy Board, 1546-1832
