This series consists of records created by Christopher George Lewin. They cover the period during which he was Controller Corporate Pensions and incorporate records of investment in works of art by the British Railways (BR) Pension Fund.

They also cover the period during which he was Coordinator Private Capital and and therefore incorporate records of the private sector involvement in services for BR and services provided in BR's sphere of enterprise, including the London-Heathrow rail link and the Liverpool Street and Broad Street re-development. The series also includes a study, by Lewin, of operational efficiency in BRB headquarters.

Administrative / biographical background:

Christopher George Lewin became Controller, Corporate Pensions in 1973 having served in Corporate Pensions since 1970. He served on the Works of Art Investment Sub-committee. In 1978 he was seconded by C A Rose, board member for personnel, to undertake a study of operational efficiency at British Railways Board (BRB) headquarters.

In 1981 Lewin was appointed Coordinator of Private Capital, initially under the Finance Director, British Rail Investments Ltd, and later under the Director of Finance and Planning, BRB, and, from 1986, the Managing Director, Procurement and Special Projects, BRB.
