Under section 1 of the Burials Act 1853, certain Secretaries of State can represent to the Monarch in Council that the use of certain burial grounds, or the continuation of burials in any city, town or other area, should be discontinued. The Monarch can then order such discontinuations by means of an Order in Council. |
