The Journal of Botany was published in 80 volumes between 1863 and 1942. Although never published by the Museum, it was closely associated with the department for 70 years through the editorships of Henry Trimen (1872-1879), James Britten (1880-1924), A B Rendle (1924-1938) and John Ramsbottom (1939-1942). The series consists of the few pieces of correspondence that have survived, together with some typescripts and pieces of artwork.
