Files selected cover the period from 1969, when the General Post Office ceased to be a government department and was incorporated as a business under the Post Office Act 1969. Some files contain papers dating prior to 1969; and two files contain papers from 1959. Files cover the appointments of the first chairman of the Post Office and his successor, other key staff, and members of the Post Office Board. Other files reflect the development of Post Office services, such as the procurement and supply of telephone equipment. The TGB series was started by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) on the creation of the MPT in 1969. |
