Custodial history: The records were originally created and stored by the Welsh Office. The National Assembly for Wales (Executive) took over custody from 1998 and the records stored in Neptune Point, Cardiff. The Welsh Assembly Government took over custody in 2007 and the records were stored with a third party contractor. In 2011 the Welsh Government took over custody of the records.

The records were created by the Animal Health, Land Drainage and Fisheries Division which was a component of the Agriculture Department.
