This series contains a mixture of official reports, correspondence and personal notebooks, visit books and diaries by inspectors from the Ancient Monuments Inspectorate, and some miscellaneous material. The official reports relate mainly to the preservation of ancient monuments in the Channel Islands and Jordan, and date from the mid 1950s. The notebooks and diaries belonging to two former Chief Inspectors of Ancient Monuments, Bryan Hugh St John O'Neil, 1905-1954, and Paul Kenneth Baillie Reynolds, 1896-1973, mostly record their comments on visits made to ancient monuments in England and Wales. |
