From the mid-1930s, the Office of Works and its successors undertook building work on an agency basis for the War Office and later for the Ministry of Supply, constructing ordnance factories and stores. From March 1941, the Ministry of Works acquired full responsibility for these and other major direct building schemes of the Ministry of Supply. |
