Reference: WO 324
Title: Royal Hospital Chelsea: Personal Files of Deceased Pensioners
Description:

This series comprises selected files of in-pensioners who died while resident in the hospital.

The papers provide a record of the in-pensioners' stay at the hospital, in that they include the man's original request for entry (including correspondence between the applicant and the hospital and his completed application form, listing his record of service, medals, wounds etc); details of his medical history during his stay (including full treatment particulars); and any other matters related to his life in the hospital. Also included are details of death, and any testamentary instructions made by the in-pensioner, concerning his personal belongings and monetary affairs.

The dates given in the list relate to the contents of the file itself, not to the period of residence in the hospital (although there will, in fact, be little difference between the two).

Date: 1923-1981
Arrangement:

Within each transfer the records are listed in alphabetical order of surname of the in-pensioner.
