Selection and destruction information: The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health requested that all files submitted by her department to the Scottish Public Inquiry into contaminated blood supplies (Penrose Inquiry) should be preserved and transferred early to TNA to coincide with the publication of the report of the inquiry, so that it would form part of the Government's response to Lord Penrose's report

Administrative / biographical background:

The Penrose Inquiry, chaired by Lord Penrose, was a Scottish Public Inquiry into Hepatitis C/HIV acquired infection from NHS treatment in Scotland with blood and blood products. It was set up under the Inquiries Act 2005 and was announced by Nicola Sturgeon MSP, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, on 23 April 2008.
