For information about the selection of this data, please refer to Operational Selection Policy OSP 27: The selection of government websites and to Information on web archiving.

This content was gathered by The Internet Memory Foundation, under contract with The National Archives.

The data was captured from the Twitter application programming interface (API). The data obtained from the API is available in both JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) formats, as well as through an interface that will display in a browser.

Date: 2009-2012; 2013 (one entry only)
Arrangement:

Each Twitter account may have been captured a number of times.

The dates in the links of the pages refer to the date range between the first and the last Tweet captured in that archive. The frequency of capture and the number of captures made is explained by the fact that crawls were often conducted to capture specific events. In addition, in order to ensure completeness of the Twitter archive (as the Twitter API limits the number of Tweets returned in any request to 3,200) the Twitter accounts that produce more than this number of Tweets must be captured more than once.

Preservation copies of these websites are held as (W)ARC files by TNA.
