The earlier volumes in this series (WO 254/1-2) are General Note Books containing summaries of decisions taken mainly on Army contracts for supplies. The remaining volumes (WO 254/3-6) consist of loose leaf typescript sheets in which entries prior to January 1946 are extracts from the original General Note Books which were taken over from the Director of Army Contracts by the Ministry of Supply in August 1939.
