Custodial history: The records were used in Cathays Park 2 to 1997 and subsequently stored in Neptune Point record storage facility in Cardiff to 2012. After this date the records were transferred to a third party contractor prior to the transfer of the records to The National Archives.

Administrative / biographical background:

An Establishment Group had existed in the Welsh Office since its inception in 1966 and a Personnel Management Division had existed from this time. Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments was created in 1983 as part of the Welsh Office and replaced the former Ancient Monuments and Historical Buildings Division. Both of the latter were created under the Establishment Group. Cadw became a Next Steps Agency in 1991.
