Administrative / biographical background:

The Structure, Grants and Drainage Division created the LGV prefix records. It was responsible for farm structure, capital grants, drainage, less favoured areas, pests, bees, arterial and field drainage and liaison with the Hill Farming Advisory Sub-Committee and servicing the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service. In 1982 the Division became the Grants, Subsidies and Lands Division and the department was assisted by the Agricultural Development and Advisory Committee Wales. It also had divisional oversight of its divisional offices at Cardiff, Carmarthen, Caernarfon, Llandridrod Wells and Ruthin.
