Created in 1997 in the DETR from the previous functions of the Dept of Environment, the Water Quality Division was responsible for matters relating to the treatment of sewage sludge on the WS file series. On the creation of Defra in 2001 this function transferred into Defra, retaining the name of the responsible branch as Water Quality Division. Responsibility now lies with Water Quality Ongoing Branch of Water Availability and Quality Division. |
