This series was opened in 1985 for use of Fisheries Division 2 when the number of Branches went from 4 to 3 and Branch 2 took over responsibility for salmon and freshwater fishing, shellfish, fish farming and Sea Fisheries Committees. In 1993 responsibility passed to Branch 3B when 4 divisions were created and Branch 3 were responsible for the Common Fisheries Policy, quotas and stock conservation, the law of the sea and fisheries limits and Sea Fisheries Committees. Responsibility remained with Branch 3 until 2004. The series is currently the responsibility of the Fishing Industry Management area of the Marine and Fisheries Programme. |
