The Special Grants Committee (which replaced the earlier Statutory Committee of the Royal Patriotic Fund Corporation) was appointed by the Minister of Pensions, and had power to supplement state pensions, grant education allowances and special discretionary grants to dependants of servicemen killed or disabled during service or after discharge.
