The Pensions Appeal Tribunals Act 1943 provided, inter alia, for appeals to independent tribunals from decisions of the Minister of Pensions on entitlement to war pensions. The war pensions field for the 1939-1945 War was extended to include civilians as well as Servicemen.

Section 6 of the Act gave authority to appeal on a point of law from a Pensions Appeal Tribunal to a Judge of the High Court in England and Wales; in Scotland to the Court of Session; and in Northern Ireland to a Judge of the Supreme Court.
