This series contains files of correspondence of the National Health Insurance Commission for England and the Secretariat of the Joint Committee of the four National Health Insurance Commissions. The correspondence is mainly with the Welsh, Scottish and Irish Commissions, the local Insurance Committees and the Approved Societies appointed under the National Insurance Act 1911, and with other government departments. Subjects covered include medical benefit, remuneration of doctors, medical records, chemists, drugs and appliances, dental services and regional medical services. After 1919 the files are those of the Ministry of Health and its Insurance Department. |
