The Agriculture (Silo Subsidies) Act 1956 provided subsidies for the construction or improvement of silos. The first Scheme was in February 1957, with retrospective effect from November 1956. The MAFF divisions responsible for the silo subsidy between 1956 and 1960 were, successively Crop Production (1956); Sugar and Crop Production (1957); and Grassland and Crop Improvement (1959)
