In 1954 the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food decided to set up three poultry progeny testing stations. The three sites selected were at Levens Hall Farm, near Harrogate, a disused airfield at Wheaton Aston and Phoenice Farm, Great Bookham, in Surrey. Each farm had approximately 17,000 birds. |
