The Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Food was set up to police various food controls and rationing orders to prevent a black market in controlled food commodities. The role of the Enforcement Division changed as divisions in the new combined ministry dealing with subsidies needed help in investigating and prosecuting producers and others who were seeking to defraud them.
