Kurt PRUEFER. An Arabist reported to have been head of German espionage in Jerusalem and Constantinople during the First World War, PRUEFER was said to be a leading official of the German Foreign Office in 1939. In 1942 he was Ambassador to Brazil and the following year convicted of espionage against that country.
