Description:

Anna Louise STRONG, alias SHUBIN, SCHUBIN: American. A journalist, STRONG visited the Soviet Union in 1921 as a representative of the Hoover Relief Committee and became pro-Bolshevik. She moved to Peking in 1925 and then returned to Moscow. By 1930 was editor of 'Moscow News'. One report claimed that she had been Trotsky's mistress. In 1949 she was deported from the USSR, probably because of her writings about China, and returned to the USA
