Martin BORMANN: German. Chief of staff to Rudolf Hess and later Hitler's deputy, BORMANN escaped from Hitler's bunker in Berlin in the final days of the Second World War in Germany and was believed to have been killed shortly afterwards. Papers on the file deal with various unconfirmed reports of his survival in Egypt, Switzerland, Russia, Ceylon, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Italy, Norway, Brazil, Sweden and the UK. The last revealed as an impersonation by a hoaxer
