The subjects covered include measures taken during both World Wars to safeguard the pensions of teachers who were transferred to essential non-teaching work or served in the armed forces or ancillary services; arrangements and reciprocal arrangements for teachers serving in Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and in Commonwealth countries; and the introduction of Widows' and Family Benefit schemes.
