This series comprises registers from the Judge Advocate General's Office of general courts martial confirmed abroad from the end of the eighteenth century.
The registers of charges give, in tabulated form, the name, rank and regiment of each prisoner, place of trial, nature of the charge and sentence, and cover trials of both officers and other ranks. A more summary register (piece 5) lists general courts martial, 1779-1795, but before 1786 gives the names of those tried only if they were officers.
