This series contains files and a complete set of forms relating to the rehabilitation and employment of disabled persons.
The files cover a wide range of topics relating to disabled persons, including rehabilitation, after-care and resettlement schemes, grant and quota schemes, statistics, provisions for ex-service men and women and the administration of workshops, hospitals and factories employing the disabled. Other files illustrate the work of committees and working parties dealing with issues concerning the disabled, principally the Committee of Enquiry on the Rehabilitation, Training and Resettlement of Disabled Persons (Piercy Committee), 1953-1962. Many of the files reflect the administration of the Disabled Persons Acts, and related legislation. The series also includes records relating to Remploy Ltd (formerly the Disabled Persons Employment Corporation) and copies of minutes, papers and reports of the National Advisory Council on the Disabled, and its successor, the National Advisory Council for the Employment of Disabled People (NACEDP).
