Description:

Legend: + H o DG o ROSA : SINE o SPINE o Barred A; it is possible to read D:G, but these pellets may well be adventitious. Coin face: bust right, of latest type; narrow crown; beaded inner and outer circle; engraved face perceptibly smaller than total die face; surrounding area not bevelled, but flat. Shaft: a square block c 17.5 mm. deep where spike joins shaft, chamfered sharply at corners to make an octagonal shaft, passing to round section c 11 mm. below coin face; a groove or gouge on each of the four sides of shaft, defining the four corners of this square block; spike appears truncated; tip irregular, in rough chisel shape. WH stamped on shank. Height of shaft 105 mm. Height of spike 36 mm. Diameter. of coin face plus surrounding edge 18.1 mm. Coin face only 15 mm.
