Administrative / biographical background:

The functions of the Marketing Committee were:

(i) to help develop the British Potato Council's strategies aimed at:

  • increasing the usage of British potatoes and potato products;
  • improving the understanding of the business environment for potatoes, and customer/consumer awareness;
  • involving the retail and food service supply chains, to ensure better understanding of the Council's initiatives and to achieve a common approach with, and synergies from, commercial activities.

(ii) to communicate aims and objectives to the relevant staff teams.

(iii) to monitor and report on the results of the Council's initiatives and campaigns.

Its membership included five Council members including its Chairman (as an ex officio member) up to 2007 when it was reduced to three, five members nominated by industry, increased to six in 2007.
