Catalogue description Special Operations Executive: Registry: Index of Honours and Awards

This series consists of a nominal card index detailing the wartime and post-war honours and awards made to the subjects. The cards list the surname and given name of the subject, his or her SOE section, any military rank and unit, military service number if applicable, and the details of the award for which the subject was recommended, the identity of the recommending officer (usually just the SOE initials), the dates of recommendation and award, schedule and file numbers, and date of gazetting, on pre-printed cards.

Additionally, some cards are endorsed on the rear with address or contact details, and there are some pencil additions about reasons for awards being rejected or not made, or the current state of the honour or award process in this case.
