Title: National Offender Management Service: Departmental Websites, and Websites of Associated Agencies and Bodies
Description:

This division contains National Offender Management Service (NOMS) departmental websites, together websites of agencies and other bodies associated with Service including those created by NOMS' predecessor/s such as HM Prison Service .

These are websites archived regularly as part of The National Archives' website collection policy. For information about the appraisal decisions informing the scheduling and selection of these websites, please refer to Operational Selection Policy OSP 27: The selection of government websites.

The selected websites have been gathered (or crawled) from the Internet in a variety of ways, by various organisations including the Internet Archive, the European Archive and the UK Web Archiving Consortium. They form part of the UK Government Web Archive, along with one-off gathers which are collected in response to topical issues or unusual circumstances (such as capturing the website of a body not regularly collected prior to it winding up), or as part of a themed collection. The frequency at which each website is gathered is scheduled; the frequencies vary (from weekly, to monthly, six-monthly or annually) and can be subject to change, especially where the functions of the body represented by the website alter.

Some websites which were transferred directly to The National Archives from government departments rather than being gathered from the Internet can be found in the UK Government Web Archive. For further information on the gathering process, please see the UK Government Web Archive.

Date: From 2000
Arrangement:

Versions of the website in this division are listed by date of gather (or crawl), and not all crawl instances may be complete.

The websites in this division are predominantly collected by means of remote harvesting by web crawler.

Presentation copies of these websites are held as (W)ARC files by TNA.

The websites in this division may have publications attached with further external links from the website versions.

Due to limitations in the software that harvests website content for archiving, forms and search boxes may not function within these archived websites. Links to external websites from archived government websites are incidental to the main gather and may not function. Some of the early archived websites were collected using experimental technology and therefore only gathered partial content, often without images.
