Office of the Commander in Chief and War Office: Distribution of the Army Monthly Returns
These are the printed summarized returns issued by the Quartermaster General, to 1881, the Adjutant General, 1881 to 1904, and the Army Council, after 1904. They show the distribution of the Army month by month (a) by divisions and stations and (b) by regiments in numerical order. They give the station of each battalion or company, the numbers of officers and rank and file present or absent, and other statistical information.
