Description:

Australia, south coast: Victoria, Cape Otway to Cape Howe; Tasmania, north coast; Bass Strait. By M Flinders, Commander of HM Sloop Investigator, labelled 'Sheet V - South Coast', 1798-1803. Shows coastline, hydrography, anchorages, tracks (of the Investigator, Norfolk and Francis), some land relief, north points and a note mentioning Messrs Bass, Grimes and Barrallier, Lieutenants Murray and Robbins and Captain T Furneaux and HM Ships Cornwallis and Lady Nelson. Chart includes four inset plans with the titles: Furneaux's Islands by M Flinders in 1798, scale 0.5 inches to 1 geographic mile, with mention of Mr R Simpson; Port Dalrymple discovered 1798 in the Norfolk Sloop by M Flinders, with additional soundings from Mr Collins' sketch, 1804; Twofold Bay, scale 0.5 inches to 1 geographical mile; and Port Phillip. With annotation 'Plate VI'
