The Plans Practice Division is based at Land Registry headquarters and provides policy on the plans aspects of Land Registry's work, and develops and maintains the practices and procedures of the Plans Branches in the district land registries.

Plans Branch is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the department's map records. Staff employed on Plans Branch duties consider plans attached to deeds lodged for, and in support of, applications for registration. Plans are prepared, based on extracts taken from the latest revision of the Ordnance Survey Map, to show the extent of land or floor levels included in a registered title. Staff also deal with the plans aspects of pre-registration services that are offered to the public.
