Request a search of closed records where the data subject is living

Series WO 416 consists of German record cards of British and Commonwealth prisoners of war and civilian internees during the Second World War.

Use the form below if you would like to request a free search of WO 416 records for an individual who is living, including yourself. If you would like to request a search for an individual who is deceased, use our other WO 416 request form.

If you want to request a search for a record of a living individual who is not you, you will need to provide evidence that you have their consent to make the request.

How it works

Step 1: Fill in the form below with details of the individual whose record you are requesting – include proof of the individual’s identity, proof of consent if applicable and your own contact details.

Step 2: On receipt of your form and valid proofs we will search for the record of the individual named in the form.

Step 3: Our team will contact you via email or post with the results of the search within 28 calendar days. If we find a record of the individual for whom you have provided proofs, we will send you a copy of the record with the email.
