Description:

St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church was carved out of the parish of St Cuthbert's ( see C.NS14 ). The initial temporary Church buildings were opened in 1935 on the site of J Ord's old market garden in Chirton. The present-day church was opened by the Bishop in 1955.
