Seven or eight years ago bound himself apprentice to James Jones of Icklesham, cordwainer, for seven years; served his master for two years then, unknown to his master, went to London and was married at Bloomsbury, St George's, to Mary Adcroft, spinster; was absent for three weeks from his master's service; when he returned his father, Mr Adcroft, desired that he live at Winchelsea; his master agreed and he lived at Winchelsea from three weeks after Christmas to Lady Day when his master came to live with him; during his time at Winchelsea, before his master came to live with him, his father Mr Adcroft found him many articles of housekeeping and his master paid him as much for his work as he did his journeymen; they agreed to go into partnership and continued in partnership a year and a half; afterwards he worked in husbandry for Mr Adcroft during the summer and as a cordwainer for Mr Jones in the winter; he served his master Jones all the residue of his apprenticeship for seven years ; he now has five children by his wife: Mary, aged 5; Joash, aged 4; Thomas, aged 3; Ann, aged 2; and John, aged fourteen weeks; his wife and children live with him in Winchelsea
