Description:

William Spencer of Cannon Hall, Yorks, esq, to Robert Cawood of Barnsley, Yorks, butcher.

 

Closes and lands, measuring 15 acres and called as follows: The Dodge Carr Close; one acre in the Church Field butting on Edward Coldwell's land, south, and Mr. Dunford's, north; 1 acre in the same field, butting on John Rooke's land south and Thomas Heeley's north; 5 roods in Farrfield, butting on Grace Wood's land, west and Mrs. Miller's east, 1 rood in the same field, butting on Mrs. Miller's land, west, and James Allen's east; 1 acre in the Swinehill, butting on Mrs. Mary Green's land, south, and on the footway, north; ½ acre in the same field, with Samuel Faram's land on the south, and Mr. Bangley's on the north; 1 close called Old Mill Close, 6 acres; 1 acre of land in the Church Field, with John Allen's land, south, and Jonathan Raynor's, north and butting on the Longman Row hedge, east and on one pingle close west; all of which are lying in the townships of Barnsley, Monk Brettan als Burton. Reserving all liberties of hunting, fishing and fowling, to Spencer, and all trees and mines.

 

For 21 years, at £19 p.a. rent.

 

Cawood is to pay £4 per acre for every acre ploughed, unless immediately after, he lay, 1 wain load of stone lime, or 20 loads of manure, on every acre to be ploughed. He also agrees to pay £5 per acre for every acre ploughed in Dodge Carr Close and Old Mill Close. Further, he is not allowed to fell any oak, ash, elm, beech, maple or fruit tree without consent.
