Henry and Elizabeth Walrond (as in no. GOODWOOD/E734), to Thomas Cesar of the Inner Temple, London, esq. and Robert Webb of Beckington, co. Soms., clothier.

 

(i) Goodwood Park consisting of Lower Park (60a.), Hazell Coppice (3a.), Easte Lawne (86a.) whereupon are two little woods called Lez Hattes, the lawns and woods on the W. side of the capital house (50a.), piece of wood ground lately felled (28a.), Lavant Lawne (16a.), the Conygrey (26a.) with a lodge for a warrener, the chief and capital house and all other buildings enclosed within the Park and all other lands and property known as Goodwood, in Hampnett, Westhampnett and Boxgrove; also all the conies and free warren and liberties for the keeping of deer and conies in the Park.

 

(ii) Site and demesnes of the manor or farm of Woodcott with the farmhouse called Woodcott Farm with barn and other buildings, dovehouse, gardens, orchards and two little plots of ground belonging (in all 3a.); 16a. adjoining the Park pale; Eastefielde (26a.); Little Hale (12a.); Great Hale (20a.); Stonyfielde (14a.); Eastfurlonges (14a.); Southfielde (16a.); Oldefielde (24a.); Downe Croft (8a.); Swithen alias Sythen Meade (4a.); Holtefielde (26a.); Bromefielde (30a.); two garden plots in Westerton in occ. of [blank] Colden cont. ½a. each; Lago (12a.); 10a. arable land in the common fields; Westerne Coppise alias the Weste Copse (56a.); Woodcott Coppice (80a.); a lane lately enclosed between Stonyfielde and Woodcott Coppice; sheep down enjoyed by the occ. of the said Farm; conies and free warren and liberty to keep conies throughout the farm.

 

Recites leases (a) 20 Nov. 1589 of Holtefield to Thomas Skarville and John his son of Hampnett for 21 years; (b) 13 April 1590 of Lago to George Pennycott of Boxgrove, husbandman, and Edmund Rushman, tailor, for lives; (c) 20 July 1596 of the newly built Warrener's Lodge on N. side of Goodwood Park with ¼a. garden and that part of the Goodwood Warren without the pale upon the Downs from the Park pale N.E. and W. to Toby Langham of Westhampnett for 7 years; (d) 8 Nov. 1596 of Woodcott Farmhouse and lands to George Westbrooke of East Compton, co. Surrey, for 19 years; (e) 5 Nov. 1594 of Oldfield and Southfield in Westhampnett to William Rose for 21 years.
