William George Daniel in 1794 married Amelia, the daughter of Nicolas Amhurst by Mary daughter of Frances Tyssen (who brought the estates at Hackney and at Foulden into the family). William George Daniel succeeded to these estates and in 1814 took the surname Daniel-Tyssen. He died in 1837. He had issue, among others:

 

William George Daniel-Tyssen born 1804. In 1834 he married Mary, daughter of Andrew Fountaine of Narford Hall. In 1854 he assumed the name of Tyssen-Amhurst. He died in 1855, leaving issue among others:

 

William Amhurst Tyssen Amhurst born 1835. He married Margaret Susan, daughter of Robert Mitford of Mitford Castle, Northumberland. In 1877 he assumed the name of William Amhurst Tyssen Amherst. He was M.P. for West Norfolk 1880-1885 and for South West Norfolk 1885-1892. He was created Baron Amherst of Hackney in 1892. He died in 1909 without male issue and was succeeded by his daughter:

 

Mary Rothes Margaret born 1857. She married Lord William Cecil in 1885. On the death of her father in 1909 she became Baroness Amherst of Hackney. She died in 1919, having had issue:

 

William Amherst born 1886, married 1910 and was killed at the Battle of Aisne, in 1914, leaving issue among others:

 

William Alexander Evening born 1912. He became 3rd Baron Amherst in 1919 on the death of his grandmother.

 

The collection also includes a few papers of William Pitt Amherst, 2nd Baron and 1st Earl Amherst, born 1773, H.M. Ambassador to China 1816, Governor-General of Bengal 1822-1828. The two families were connected, being descended from different sons of Thomas Amherst of Amherst, Kent, floreat 1489.
