Award of Richard Abbot of Selebi [Selby] and Robert of Holy Trinity and Ranulf of St Andrew, priors in York, in a dispute referred to them by Innocent III between the abbot and monks of Rupe [that is Roche] and Hugh, parson of [the church of St Peter] Barnebi, concerning his interfering with the carrying ['super exploitatione gerundam'] of their tithes granted to them from the apostolic see The monks shall have the tithes of grain of all the lands in Barnebi granted to them by charter by Gervase of Barnebi and Hugh Folioth: of four bovates there which they have of the fee of Aubrey of Lisures; of four bovates in Bramwith which they have of the fee of William of Insula of Broddeawrth; and of another four bovates there which they have of the fee of Ralph of Insule of Catebi Rendering 11b of incense at Saints Peter and Paul yearly to the church of Barnebi during the time of the existing parson for the good of peace If the monks do not cultivate the said 12 bovates as a whole and acquire other lands in the parish, they shall keep tithes to the value of 12 bovates; but tithes on any land to the value of more than 12 bovates which they cultivate there shall be paid to the church of Barnebi and if any tenants of the monks cultivate the said land to their own use, they shall likewise give the tithes to the church of Barnebi Portions of three vesica seals [The dedication of the church of Barnby on Dun is to Saints Peter and Paul]
